Open Call for Open Studios Advertising Spring 2010
Call for submissions closes March 9th at 12 Midnight!
We are opening up the call for Open Studios advertising early this semester, so that everyone will have the opportunity to contribute to the process and fully vet the final image. We will first offer an opportunity for the submission of images, which will happen online. Next, there will be an online vote. From that vote the top three images will go into a run-off vote that will then be decided in person by the student body at the next MFASO meeting. The image chosen in that meeting will be used throughout our ad campaign. If you have any questions about submitting or the process, feel free to mail us mfa.hunter@gmail.com
Open Studios advertising represents Hunter College’s MFA program to the rest of the art world, so please produce submissions that you feel best reflects the commitment you, the students, have to your practice as artists. As many of you know, this year we are largely focused on electronic advertising, but we will also be printing a limited number of post cards. To submit simply follow the requirements below and append your image to a comment on this post.
Requirements: You must be a current Hunter MFA student. You must also have paid your MFASO dues. You may submit as many images as you like, but you must submit using your real name and email. Please submit images only– unless text is vital to your concept– event information will be added after the image is chosen. No explicit nudity or language (we have to keep things to our advertiser’s standards). For web submission please use JPG format at 72 DPI and no larger than 600 pixels in any direction . All final images submitted must be able to accommodate printing. Printing requirements are:

FILE TYPE: .TIF, .TIFF, .EPS, .AI, .JPG, .PNG & .PDF.
DPI : 300 – 350
COLOR: CMYK is preferable, although i think i have sent RGB files
before to the printer without a noticeable difference
SIZE: 4.1″ x 6.1″

After Submissions close all submissions will be posted online and voted on by students. Online Voting will close on March 16th at Midnight. The top three images with the most votes will go into a run-off vote that will be decided at the next MFASO meeting on March 17th. The image chosen at the meeting will be used throughout our advertising campaign.
